The Vietnamese Student Association was started at Cal Poly by a small group of highly spirited, hard-working individuals with a goal of providing a place for students to meet and share Vietnamese culture. VSA is an organization dedicated to increasing cultural awareness and diversity on campus. It serves as a great place for students of various backgrounds (not just those of Vietnamese) to interact and become involved in the community. VSA hopes to build cross-cultural bridges and acceptance from those of different backgrounds. VSA brings the traditions and culture of Vietnam to the Cal Poly campus and to the San Luis Obispo community. VSA's activities focus on the celebration and exposure of Vietnamese culture. Members participate in events such as the Lantern Festival, dances, and an annual cultural show. These events help members interact with each other and work together, while at the same time, demonstrate the customs of Vietnamese culture. Being a member in VSA provides students an opportunity to forge long-lasting relationships that will extend beyond college.
